The Normandy is a province of the old France. 
The region is subjugated by Francs to V th century. 

VII th century sees the Benedictine monachisme spreading to Jumièges, to Fécamp, to the Mount-Saint-Michel or to Saint-Wandrille. 

The Norman invasions ravage the country to IX th century. 

In 911, Charles III the Simple gives up the Normandy to Rollon by the treaty of Saint-clear-on-Epte. 

In 1066 England is conquered by Guillaume the Batârd. 

The Anglo-Norman state is shared in 1087. 
The victory of Tinchebray in 1106 gives the Normandy to the Plantagenêts. 

In 1204 Philippe Auguste confiscates the Normandy. 
The continuous England to claim it.


In 1420 England annexes the region. 

Of 1436 to 1450, France reconquers it. 

It is in 1468 that the province is connected definitely to the French royal domain.
